DIAMOND DOWEL SYSTEMS 114 X 114 X 6 mm
• Most commonly concrete surfaces are cast 150 mm thick which means your formwork needs to be a
50 x 152 mm timber. Using nails, attach the plastic pocket former centre at 75 mm to your timber, to ensure that your dowels are cast correctly into the concrete surfaces.
• Depending on engineer’s specifications, you need to space them @ 350 mm / 400 mm cc’s apart.
Your BOQ or your joint lay-out plans will indicate the correct specs.
• Install your formwork as usual but do not insert your steel plate into the plastic pocket former
• The first concrete casting will be poured up unto against your shutter, covering the plastic pocket former attached thereto, in the concrete. Continue with the normal floating process
• The next day, strip your shutter and insert the steel plate into the plastic pocket former, which will have set in the concrete, it remains intact
• Continue with the next concrete pour as usual
• The same method applies when using steel shutters, accept that screws are used instead of nails
• A Diamond dowel construction joint enhances stability in the concrete floors / hardstands / slabs and reduces the risk of cracks in your joints. It offers great load bearing capacity and minimizes movement to concrete surfaces.
• PVC pocket formers are sold individually to eliminate high freight charges due to the weight of steel plates, customers may purchase
the steel plates from their steel suppliers separately. ACCP offers mild steel plates or electroplated steel plates, depending on the
specs of each project. Electroplated steel plates are much more cost effective than galvanized steel plates and matches the standards
for galvanized steel plates.
